What is Sass

Sass (Syntactically Awesome Stylesheets) is a scripting language & CSS3 extension, making fun of all stylesheet coding, now CSS writing is not a tricky &  much complex work, if you know some programming then you can easily become a SASS code writer.

Sass, adding custom variables to use, nested rules, mixins (Functions), inheritance and additional lot of things, You can download it from here.  After installing it, Sass compiler executes Sass file in to  well-formatted & standard CSS using command line tool or a web-framework plugin like CodeKit.

Sass has two syntaxes, First one is “SCSS” (for “Sassy CSS”), and is a superset of CSS3’s syntax & second one is “SASS”, Every valid CSS3 stylesheet is valid SCSS as well. SCSS files use the extension .scss & SASS files use extension .sass.

 

How to Install SASS:

Below Terminal/ Command Line, command uses for installing SCSS:

**Command for MAC: 

$gem install sass                                       // install sass using terminal
$mv style.css style.scss                   // Create style.css and style.scss file
$sass --watch style.scss:style.css  // Start sass compiler for execution of SASS code to CSS.

 

SASS Example:

$ColorA: #FFCCKK
$padding: 20px

.wrapper {
border-color: $ColorA
color: darken($ColorA, 19%)
}

.border {
padding: $padding / 2
margin: $padding / 2
border-color: $ColorA
}

Well, its fun and you can learn a lot of new things by using Sass.
